About Liza

Work Experience

I started formally leading volunteers in 2007 at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) while working as an Early Childhood Educator. After that I was an AmeriCorps Environmental Educator at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center where I led multiple teams of volunteers. In 2010, I began working as a Program Coordinator in Volunteer Services at Multnomah County Library in Portland, Oregon. In this role, I work on a small – but mighty! – team where we connect meaningful volunteer opportunities to over 1,900 community members each year. Volunteer Leadership

I’m the Social Media Specialist for the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA), where I have the distinct joy of seeing #CVAselfies from volunteer engagement professionals around the world. Previous board experiences include marketing roles with Northwest Oregon Volunteer Administrators Association (NOVAA) and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) Portland.

I’m a proud member of:

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon and a Certification in Volunteer Administration. I am also a Certified Volunteer Management Trainer through Oregon Volunteers.

Outside of Work

Interests outside of work include knitting, crafting, reading, traveling, geocaching, learning ukulele, and spending time with family and friends. Some of my favorite places include Edinburgh, Port Townsend, San Juan Island, Cookeville, and Portland, where I live with my husband Jonathan and our two cats, Moon Pie and Sebastian.
